Ponce City Market just revealed what's next for its rooftop, and it's not a refresh. The Old Fourth Ward landmark has tapped legendary Atlanta golf course architect Bobby Cupp to completely redesign the 18-hole mini golf course at Skyline Park. The new course opens this spring.
If you've been up to The Roof before, you know the mini golf course has been there for a decade. It's been a staple, but let's be real, it needed some love. Cupp is the architect behind Bobby Jones Golf Course and Druid Hills Golf Club, two of the city's most respected full-scale courses, and now he's bringing that expertise to a rooftop with skyline views. PCM could have hired a local contractor to refresh the course. Instead they went with a name that carries weight in Atlanta golf circles. That's a statement of intent.
What's actually changing at Skyline Park
The course is getting a full overhaul. New holes, new layouts, harder shots. It's still 18 holes, but if Cupp is putting his name on it, expect actual strategy and not just a windmill and a clown's mouth. SK8 The Roof, the roller rink, is also back for spring and summer, and they're closing each night with a 9:15 laser show on the tower.
What It Cost
General admission runs $15 for adults and $7 for kids 12 and under, which gets you rides, boardwalk games, and SK8 The Roof. Adding mini golf is $12 for adults or $7 for kids on top of that. Kids under three are free, and The Roof is now open to all ages, all the time, though anyone under 18 has to be with an adult.
The piece that caught my attention is Tee Time, a new weekday happy hour Monday through Friday from 3 to 5. Half-price mini golf and three-dollar Lucky One Lemonade or Tea. That's the move that turns a tourist attraction into a regular stop. If you work or live anywhere near Ponce, that's a real after-work option, not a special occasion.
Old Fourth Ward Keeps Moving
Ponce City Market sits at the center of one of Atlanta's most dynamic neighborhoods. Between the BeltLine's Eastside Trail next door, new residential projects like The Leon, and the constant churn of restaurants and businesses, Old Fourth Ward doesn't sit still. PCM has to keep evolving to stay relevant, especially as other rooftop bars and entertainment venues pop up across the city.
The timing matters too. Spring 2026 means the new course opens right as the weather turns perfect for rooftop hangs. Pair that with the BeltLine, the food hall downstairs, dinner at 9 Mile Station, and everything else happening around Ponce, and you've got a solid day in the neighborhood without having to drive anywhere.
Hiring Bobby Cupp for mini golf is the right kind of overkill. It tells you Ponce City Market is treating The Roof as a real destination, not just an amenity. But the actual win here is Tee Time. Half-price golf and three-dollar drinks from 3 to 5 is what makes a place feel like part of the neighborhood instead of a tourist stop. That's the move I'll be using.
If you live or work in Old Fourth Ward, are you actually going to make Tee Time a regular thing, or is this still a once-a-season visit for you?
